Studio soundtrack

Music is a constant in the studio. It fills the quieter moments, sets the tone for the day and, more often than not, becomes part of the rhythm of working without really being noticed.

At the moment, the soundtrack is This Music May Contain Hope by RAYE, (and we all need some of that at the moment, right?!)

There’s something about the way the album unfolds that feels both effortless and considered. It moves between moods without feeling disjointed, balancing strength with vulnerability in a way that feels genuine rather than overworked. It’s the kind of album that you can have on in the background, but every now and then it pulls your attention back in.

I had the chance to see her live in Manchester this February, and it only reinforced that feeling. The performance was effortless but incredibly precise, and every detail felt deliberate, from the arrangement through to the delivery. The whole performance took you on an incredible journey. As a vocalist, composer and lyricist, there’s a real depth to RAYE’s work, and an ability to hold an audience. Her music feels honest and relatable, which only adds to its impact. She’s a rare kind of talent.

Back in the studio, it’s become one of those albums that just sits comfortably in the background of the day. Becoming familiar enough not to distract, but with enough depth to keep it interesting.

RAYE will definitely be on repeat for the foreseeable.
